He-Man 2023 Answers

1) During the 2022 trip we found on the Manitowish River an old basketball. We were using it as a "splash ball" between canoes. George refused to participate. So in response we put the ball in his truck at the end of the trip. Why do you think George did not want to participate and what should we do if he does not return this sacred He-Man object for this year's trip?

Dave - As punishment for not being a team player, we will search through all his gear and take away all his vegetarian/organic foods. He can either eat our good food or forage the wild for nutrition .

George - I think that George didn't participate because of his concern for the environment. Another He-man did a great thing by pulling the basketball from the water. If George had thrown the ball, it could have got lost again and polluted our waters. Then the rivers of the North woods would be no different than the Milwaukee River .

Austin - Fill his truck with balls .

Sudheer - George didn't want to participate because he probably thought that additional weight would slow him down in the race. If George doesn't get the sacred splash ball this year, we should find a more sacred and bigger object on the river to play with .

Kenny - Bless him with many sacred treasures, or empties as time allows. .

Eric - George didn't want to participate because he probably thought that additional weight would slow him down in the race. If George doesn't get the sacred splash ball this year, we should find a more sacred and bigger object on the river to play with .

Zach - He obviously didn't want association due to possible interpretation of ownership and responsibility - this technique never bodes well in the He-Man atmosphere. However; really, we just gave him the ball to throw out? We know he was going to ditch that thing as soon as possible. If this had become a sacred He-Man object then the He-Man association and loyal members would have made sure to make a home for it in the cabins, even building a pedestal with a nameplate for it. Since, however, we did not protect the splash ball, and knowingly handed it over to one who would act within their nature to destroy it, whoa be to those who acted accordingly - their heads shall be cut from their shoulders and placed on the pedestal that was to be used for the splash ball as a reminder to future generations that He-Man sacred objects are to be worshiped and taken care of well .

Alan - Praise him with beer as who really wants to get splashed any way .

Boyd - In George's first year on the He-Man Canoe trip, George brought his security basketball along which he needed to avoid panic attacks and sleep through the nights. Dave ruling that this is not permitted on the He-Man Canoe trips, threw his sacred basketball into the fire. George had gotten over this, until last year. George will require serious therapy from all the He-men this year. Please share a beer with him .

Adrian - George did not want to participate because he thought the water was poisoned and it was going kill him during the He-Man. And if he does not return the ball. I’ll bring two more .

Christopher - The next Heman he intends he is force to sleep with no tent and no cover. Has to give up and dessert the whole trip .

2) Kenny and Scott were partners in 2022, telling us that they were working out together and were in shape. On the first day it was quite rainy and Kenny/Scott were lagging behind. At the Trout River log crossing, Scott fell in up to his neck in water. Saturday evening Ron came and pulled Kenny and Scott out of the trip. Scott has announced his He-Man retirement. What should we require if Kenny says he wants to be on the trip?

Dave - Well since Kenny registers every year, but only shows up every three - we don't have to deal with this for another two years. Then we will just make sure to take a shovel along when Kenny comes. That way we can dig his grave at the first campsite. It would be nice to have a permanent He-Man memorial at one of our campsites .

George - I believe that Kenny is a Russian spy. Scott is his co-conspirator against the US government. They are trying to infiltrate the government through the He-Men. Trying to get to the US government through the He-men isn't going to work. So we must let him keep trying so he doesn't try another method that actually works. Keep your guard up against these Russian Spy's He-men .

Austin - Make him canoe solo .

Sudheer - Requirements for Kenny to participate this year: 1. A written certificate from doctor saying Kenny's fit to canoe 50 miles. 2. No drinking on the trip .

Kenny - I'm fine don't worry about me, Best be ready yourself. Never better. It does ta certain moment of honesty to admit. Yeah I've been sick a few years and as my friends. You'd be right to worry about me but i've really made it a priority yet again this year to do the best I can. See you guys soon. To be honest I would have continued but I wasn't going to leave Scott behind by himself. I was genuinely concerned about him having hypothermia. That being sa friend of mine will be joining us this year. If everything works out as planned this will be my first guest on human ever/recruit. P.s. I've been so invested in this. I have my canoe stored right next to my back door as scott can attest to. I even have my carbon fiber racing paddle right next to my back door .

Eric - Requirements for Kenny to participate this year: 1. A written certificate from doctor saying Kenny's fit to canoe 50 miles. 2. No drinking on the trip. (smiley) .

Zach - A list of He-Men up for retirement. Four or five would be favorable; systematically they will finish their He-Man days or prove they still have some more years left .

Alan - A true scaled weight under 175 pounds would be a good start and no alcohol for him on the trip (including Friday) .

Boyd - Kenny must team up with George to provide post traumatic basketball therapy for George .

Adrian - Drink less beer. Or no beer at all .

Christopher - He need to give up drinks that are is not water .

3) At the He-Man of the year throw-in spot (above Lake of the Falls dam), there was a major insect hatching. As Christopher (He-Man of the year) described it as follows: "That spot was like nothing I seen before, so many bugs in the air, felt like a scene from Indiana Jones. There we where trying to protect a Treasure of some sort. After I got tossed in I got attacked by them being all over me, trying not to talk so they wouldn't get into my mouth. When I got out of the water I looked over to the canoes and they were covered in them, canoes turned black with bugs. It's like they didn't want us to live in peace. So us brave souls went through them and started a journey taking on thousands of them. We were paddling and swatting them away at the same time, looking for some momentum to shake them off. And then we went under a bridge and there was a huge cloud of them waiting for us. We went through them because it's the He-Man and nothing stands in our way. It took at least two miles until we were bug free.". If you were on the trip, is that they way you remember this event? If not, how does Christopher's description excite you about going on the trip?

Dave - What I couldn't believe is how excited Boyd got. He started gobbling up those bugs as fast as he could. He didn't want to leave because he loved all of that fresh protein .

George - Being one with nature is part of being a He-Man. Mosquitos and ticks are just a part of life for us. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Surviving the murder hornet attack of 2022 has made us all stronger .

Austin I look forward to the breakfast burritos filled with bugs. Extra protein .

Sudheer - Bug repellents left the chat .

Kenny - I'll quote the united states marine corps, Embrace the suck feed on the misery enjoy the discomfort, The worse i gets the bigger I smile .

Eric - Bug repellents left the chat .

Zach - Yeah - sounds about right. They were totally defending the He-Man splash ball, they knew their treasure was about taken for good and were making their last stand .

Alan - Perhaps everyone was happy he finally stopped talking for a while .

Boyd - I remember us being able to have a nice free meal of bugs. In fact, He-Men were competing to see who could eat the most bugs. Dave thought he was the winner, however, you needed to actually swallow the bugs and not just capture them on your beard. So Dave's numbers were way too high. Everyone was participating except for George, who was still suffering from Post Traumatic Basketball Syndrome .

Adrian - Well! I'm am looking forward for this trip because this just described to that. You can eat protein and paddle at the same time! At the end of this trip I want to look like a body builder .

Christopher - Whole thing matches up. To be honest I think they were after the sacred basketball we took from their land .

4) On the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, Dave lead the group into three dead-end bays while trying to get to the central portion of the flowage. After the third dead end, Dave's partner Ian had enough and took the map and guided us out of the mess. What do you think was wrong with Dave in that situation? Can we trust Dave in navigation anymore?

Dave - What's wrong with you Dave. You have been on this trip more times than anyone else. I believe you even take student groups to the Turtle Flambeau sometimes. There are people that retire from the He-Man because of physical impairment, but Dave might be the first one to retire because of mental imparement .

George - This can happen as people age. First you have trouble with directions, and then you find yourself wandering around lost downtown talking to yourself. We must help Dave with navigation from now on. Self driving cars are a relatively new technology. We should take a collection to buy Dave a self navigating canoe when that technology becomes available .

Austin - Dave's GPS wasn't charged .

Sudheer - Dave has had too many responsibilities. We need to have dedicated person as map guide going forward .

Kenny - I think some of us might need nursing care along the way as we get ready to go to that big Canoe in the sky, A small number of us have already made that voyage. Some of us are closer to it than we know and more than a few of us feel the years but don't let it stop us. I'll say this once a he-man always a He-Man

Eric - Dave has had too many responsibilities. We need to have dedicated person as map guide going forward .

Zach - Dave knew where they were going, he thought that the group hadn't gotten enough paddling in and was making sure everyone got the full He-Man experience. We can trust his navigation abilities; we just can't trust where he's taking us .

Alan - Dementia is a tough thing. Sometimes we have to know when it is time to let go and let the younger generation lead .

Boyd - We've all known, after Dave turned fifty, his memory started failing. Before then, Dave just enjoyed bringing the crew on more extended routes. Today, Dave has poor eye sight, hearing and memory and will often times repeat many stories of the past. Many times Dave will think he's canoeing near Green Bay. The best solution is to pair him up with George for co-therapy sessions .

Adrian - In my years of knowing Dave. I would call this "the dave adventure" at this point it's very normal to get lost or take a short cut but it's really isn't one. So I say this we all get jet skies so if this happen it would takes us less time to fix all the Dave's mistakes .

Christopher - I think Dave was searching for wild flowers and trees and got so distracted he forgot we were on the Heman. I think we need a new map guide and Ian might be the new leader .
